[NEWS] MBLAQ shows confidence in singing live

The male group MBLAQ debuted two years ago under the singer Rain’s management. However, the group does not have a song which can identify itself, so the members are now determined to show something impressive in second half of the year.
MBLAQ composed the song “Mona Lisa” expecting a big hit, the top ranking in Japan’s Oricon chart. It is also having its first concert.
G.O said, “We concluded that we don’t have any songs that left a good impression. So we chose “Mona Lisa” which consists of simple melody and content that everybody can easily enjoy.”
“We pursued mass appeal since the song “Stay.” We didn’t gain much support in the past, but we are still trying to appeal to the public. We studied, and we decided to increase each member’s parts in the song and make the song flow more smoothly,” he added.
Seung Ho said, “We could’ve done better on the performance of ‘Stay.’ So this time, we tried to make the performance very impressive. People know us but not our songs. We really wanted to compose a song that represents us.”
The song “Mona Lisa” is based on the mix of tango and electronic music. As the group is known sexy, the performance is expected to be sensational. However, MBLAQ is focusing on singing live on stage. They are also proud of themselves for singing live more than any other groups.
Lee Joon said, “We want to be marked as good singers, not performers.”
G.O agreed, “Especially for ‘Mona Lisa,’ we have reduced a big amount of recording. We’ll sing live on stage. That’s how we want to compete in the world of singers.”
Rain choreographed “Mona Lisa,” but MBLAQ is slowly getting out of Rain’s sphere of influence.
“I might cry when I see him (Rain) leaving for the army. He could be strict and harsh as a producer, but still, he is a good, fun guy to be around,” Seung Ho said.
“We had a long term of hiatus because growing up is an important thing. Now it’s time for us to come out again. We’ll keep on working on new projects without resting,” G.O concluded.
